Hello…my name is Todd Martin, the founder and team leader of Your Claim Advocate. Your Claim Advocate team is a hail claim consultant and exterior restoration specialist, intended as being your 'one-stop hail claim shop'. As opposed to being a salesperson and rep for a single contractor, we are consultants that represent you and project manage for multiple contractors to bring you the best solution for you. This 'better solution' does not cost you any additional money as we are paid by the contractors we represent. It is a unique, client-centered approach to helping homeowners handle hail claims while minimizing the stress and unpleasant surprises. It is a concept that grew out of my value system (see below), a desire to do right by my clients, and was developed as a response to the manner hail-chasing contractors typically handle their business and 'sell' their clients.

Let me take a step back for a moment. I am a long-time resident of Colorado and married to my sweetheart of 18 years and have two beautiful teenage daughters, the loves of my life. My business is to assess hail damage, negotiate and reconcile hail damage repair work with insurance companies, and coordinate the resulting repairs (roof, gutters, painting, siding, windows, etc.)...and do it in a way that is in the best interest of my clients. Due to the response from homeowners, I've developed this concept into the Your Claim Advocate Team.

I learned early on in my hail claim career that there are four approaches to this business:

     1) As an Estimator who is simply focused on price.

     2) As a Salesman who is focused on getting the sale, not customer’s wants or needs.

     3) As a Consultant who is more focused on the client's wants and needs.

     4) As a Claim Advocate, a true consultant and trusted advisor for their clients.

Based on my background, work ethic and personal values, I choose the latter approach.

As your Consultant & Claim Advocate, I will listen and seek to understand your needs and goals and I will inform you of your options based on my extensive knowledge of the industry and help you to choose the best option for your particular situation and, together, we will create a solution that fits your parameters and gives you peace of mind, knowing that your project is being handled professionally and with your interests honored and needs met. In other words, the Consultant/Claim Advocate approach seeks to see the situation from the client's perspective.

I believe I bring an unusual and refreshing client-first perspective to the insurance claims and contracting industry. I’ve spent my life helping people navigate various challenging issues of life...
  •  My father is a custom builder, a craftsman and the best quality builder in his local area. I grew up learning, with a hammer in my hand, the “right way” to build a home – from the foundation through completion.
  •  I moved to Denver in 1995 to pursue my master’s degree at Denver Seminary in the area of youth ministry. All the while, I continued to support myself doing new construction finish work and custom remodeling.
  •  In 1996, I began working for a financial company offering a new concept at the time: Debt management for families. I helped families restructure and pay off debt years faster. I became insurance and securities certified, opened a mortgage banking firm and dedicated my consulting and advocacy services to understanding families’ needs and helping them forge a solution to pay off debt faster and get ahead financially. As a financial professional, I was entrusted by my clients to be their Trusted Advisor (fiduciary), representing their best interest, not a “product-pushing salesman”.
  •  In 2008, with the collapse of the mortgage market and real estate values plummeting, I made a career change into my current profession. I now continue to draw on the skills developed from 8 years in youth ministry, 12 years in custom construction, and 12 years in financial services. I also draw on the experience of having helped 100s and 100s of people navigate the claim and repair processes while avoiding costly mistakes and compromising pitfalls.
  •  In 2014, I was certified as an insurance adjuster. This was eye-opening and has become a huge asset for my clients. The adjuster training I went through laid out how homeowners policies work, what insurance companies are required to pay and what they are not, and it helped me understand state insurance requirements. This training has proven invaluable over the years in working with adjusters and insurance companies. When they see I understand homeowners policy and the law, and I can support my assertions as an adjuster would, it makes for a relationships of colleagues rather than two adversarial parties.
  •  The same year I was professionally trained in the software that 90% of insurance companies use. As I learned through my years in the mortgage banking business dealing with underwriters, the better I can present to insurance companies what they want to see, how they want to see it, in the format they are used to seeing it, and with the documentation they need to approve items, the more smoothly the process works to get missing items get approved.
As your Claim Advocate, I make it my job to ensure that you:
  •  Thoroughly understand how the process works from filing a claim through the final payment, what your responsibilities are and what I'm taking care of for you.
  •  That your insurance company gives you the complete, accurate, and thorough adjustment you deserve so that you can get your repairs done right, without having to cut corners. [My personal statistics show that the average initial insurance adjustment is over 25% low and some much more.]
  •  That the repairs you want completed are handled for you as seamlessly as possible and a high level of quality work is maintained.
  •  That the whole claim process is as smooth, simple, and STRESS-FREE as possible.
When you trust me (and my team) with your hail claim project, you can rest assured that I will personally commit to treating your home and claim as if they were my own and to representing your best interest through to a successful completion.
